Following a massive recall of cars and trucks with accelerator issues, Toyota is dealing with a new problem: possible faulty brakes on the Prius hybrid and Lexus hybrid. Now, those who buy and sell Toyotas are expressing their concern, or lack of concern regarding the safety of these vehicles.

Mark Chirstensen owns and operates Mark Motors in Great Falls. Prior to the recall, he sold some Camry models that he feared were affected by the faulty accelerator recall. He says he immediately contacted the customers.

"We sold three in the last month and a half. Luckily they turned out not to be part of the recall."

2.3 million cars and trucks were affected by that recall. And today, federal regulators are investigating brake problems on the 2010 Prius hybrid after customer complaints that the brakes don't always engage immediately. Toyota says today it's investigating the Prius hybrid and the Lexus hybrid.

People here in Great Falls reacted to the automakers troubles.

"People will probably think about it more before they buy,” said Evan Lepard.

"Everybody has a recall sometimes,” said Karin Osborn. “I would still buy one."

"We grew up with Toyotas,” said Michaela Eveque. “I might be a bit more cautious before I buy one."

Yet Christensen is confident that these issues will be resolved.

"Toyota is a good company. Toyotas are well-built,” Christensen said. “I have owned seven of them and I think Toyota will handle it."

Toyota said no decision has been made about a Prius and Lexus recall due to the brake problems.
